Located in Okemos, MI, Photography by Cat is fine art- studio portraiture created by self-taught photographer Cat Tamayo (that’s me!) When I am not holding a camera, you can find me running after my four active kiddos, curled up with a good book, eating tacos, and or watching classic episodes of Unsolved Mysteries with my husband.

 

I specialize in photography that helps capture the story of YOUR growing family. Whether it be a Lifestyle session that shows your family at home in your natural element or capturing a stylized Maternity and Newborn that will be displayed on a gorgeous metal print in your living room for all to see! 

 

I hold an education background in early childhood development with many years of work experience as a lead infant/preschool teacher. This quickly led to my passion of capturing all the precious memories that families hold dear- their growing children.

With a small family of my own, I understand the importance of celebrating each milestone as your children and family grow. I believe that photography helps capture these irreplaceable memories so they last for a lifetime! 

 

Looking at a photograph is like being able to take a step back in time- it brings you back to those tiny fingers curled gently around yours, the fresh newborn baby smell, and all those tiny, baby features that seem to leave in the blink of an eye. I love helping families remember their baby's adorable, first taste of cake. Helping you celebrate the whirlwind that is your baby’s first year of life is my favorite thing to do! Honoring your amazing breastfeeding journey with the hilarious first taste of a sour lemon during your baby’s (fruit) milk bath session can be fun and memorable for everyone. 

 

I have put all my dreams into creating a warm and inviting studio space for your family to enjoy. My studio is conveniently located on Okemos Rd across from Delta Dental. I have everything we need for your newborn session- all the backdrops, props, headbands, outfits, bonnets etc!  I make booking a newborn session as stress free as possible- just bring your new baby and I do the rest! Designing a custom first birthday set is also one of my favorite things to plan. The custom backdrops and themes are way so much fun to plan out.
